Sovereignty of God

Paul says in Ephesians 1:11 that God does things according to the counsel of His own will. I seek counsel with my wife over family matters, I seek doctors counsel for my health, I seek counsel from a CPA for taxes. I do this because I am not an expert in these areas, but God, who does He seek counsel from? Himself! There is no one greater than He is. No one has more knowledge or expertise than He does. He is our creator. He knows us and our world more intimately than we ourselves do.

Here is why this is important. I do not have to know everything. I don’t have to have all the answers. I just have to be connected to the One who does. I don’t have to have the weight of the world on my shoulders because my task is to follow and be obedient to God. He has the world in His hands. He cares for me. The scriptures are full of God’s promises to care for us. Furthermore, my life is full of examples of God’s expert care for my life. I think the struggle is that so many of us want to be the God of our lives. We begin to live like we are in charge. Then life happens and we find ourselves in over our heads. Where do we turn then? We turn to the One who does things according to His own will because there is no one greater. So, take a deep breath, relax, and lean into the care of your Heavenly Father. There is nothing in your life He cannot handle.
