Grace

Grace is one of the most profound ideas. God has demonstrated grace to us.

Ephesians 2:8-9 says, “8 For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, 9 not of works, lest anyone should boast.”

When I consider all my sins and how God was willing to offer salvation out of His Grace, I am amazed. Grace is one of the cornerstone beliefs of Christianity and it is unique to Christianity. When Peter asked how often he should forgive someone, offering up seven as a more than sufficient number he was demonstrating the limit of human forgiveness. Then we find Jesus wonderful state of seven times seventy or an infinite amount of times. When God’s grace is focused on me, I love the idea. I am truly thankful for His grace but what about when others need my grace. What about when I need to offer forgiveness or be patient with someone and I humanly don’t want to. Giving God’s grace is another story. Giving God’s grace to those who do not deserve it demonstrates the brokenness inside of me. Humanly, culturally I want justice, but because I have experienced God’s Grace, I have to share it with others.

Who in your life needs Grace from you? What does your internal struggle with offering Grace to them reveal about your faith journey? I pray each of us would view others, even those who are in desperate need of Grace through the eyes of God.
