Change
God transforms us through a saving relationship with Jesus. What does it mean to be transformed? Paul tells us in Romans 12:2 that we are to be transformed by the renewing of our mind. The word used is 'metamorphoo' from which we get our word for metamorphosis. The change that takes place is not a small change but a massive change from one state to another. A caterpillar under goes metamorphosis and changes into a butterfly. To look at a butterfly you would never guess that they came from a caterpillar. The two animals are completely different. This is the change that is to take place in us. In Romans 12:2 Paul says that we are transformed by the renewing of our mind. In 2 Corinthians 3:18 this same transformation takes place by beholding the glory of the Lord. This change takes place as we spend focused on God and His salvation. The change begins at salvation and is a work in progress the rest of our lives. In Matthew 17:2 Jesus is transfigured before Peter, James and John. Jesus looked notably different than he had before. So, the question before us is have we changed? Do we look different? Do our friends, neighbors and family notice? Has the presence of Christ in our life and the power of His Word changed us? Are we focused on Him or just living life our way? I want to encourage each of us to behold God's glory this week. Allow His greatness to change you.
