Life is Short
Psalm 144
3 LORD, what is man, that You take knowledge of
him?
Or the son of man, that You are mindful of him?
4 Man is like a breath;
His days are like a passing shadow.
Life is Short. Regardless of how long we live, life is short. Psalm 144 describes life as a breath or a shadow. James 4 describes life as a vapor. So, our task is to make the best of life. Ephesians 5:16 encourages us to redeem the time. The struggle is not becoming distracted. Life gets in the way. We have jobs and work hard, but jobs can consume our focus. We have plans and we are going to accomplish them without realizing the cost. Worries and fears about what could happen often rob us of the time that we have that could be invested in being with others. Hurts, pains and depression consume our thoughts leaving no room for anything else. Life is short. How will you make the most of it? Where will you focus? Where will you invest? With whom will you spend your time? How will your life honor God? We were created to be with God, to honor Him. One of the ways we bring honor is to obey Him. God has called us to love others, to invest in His kingdom not ours. Again, life is short how will you use your life. How sad it will be to get to the end of life and to realize that we have invested our lives in “things” that don’t matter, “things” that are not eternal. So, I will close with one question, “How are you using your time?"
